It’s never too early to start thinking ahead, and the scary truth is that the beginning of the fall semester will be here before we know it. The week or two before classes begin again are always some of the busiest at the University, as faculty and staff alike gear up for the return of students. As that back-to-school prep begins, what better time to learn how to use the many technology used for teaching and learning at Penn State!

SummerFest is a great time for new faculty members to take a workshop and learn how to use Penn State’s course management system, ANGEL. Or if you have been teaching here for years but want to expand your technological horizons, you can learn how to build a site with Sites at Penn State or optimize ANGEL for accessibility. Plus, this year, Adobe will be presenting a special series of classes on Tuesday, August 19 on using their products (including InDesign, Photoshop, and Premier) in your work and in the classroom.

Additionally, as a special part of SummerFest II, we will again be offering the Designing Assessments Series, a partnership between the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence and IT Training Services. The series takes an in-depth look at both the “why” and the “how” of creating effective assessments and gives you a pedagogical framework for building your assessments.

Better yet, all of these courses are free and available online, so that even if you’re not on campus by then, you can take a hour or two to dive into a topic of your choice. Registration is open now, so be sure to schedule soon before the sessions – and your back-to-school calendar – start filling up!

To register, simply click a session title below and log in with your Penn State Access Account ID and Password. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at itstraining@psu.edu.
