Faculty and staff who have been transitioning from ANGEL to Canvas, Penn State’s new learning management system, may be stumped when it comes to transitioning any ANGEL Groups they use as collaborative or storage spaces. No need to worry, because there are a number of free, University-supported alternatives available! It is strongly recommended that ANGEL Groups users begin migrating their content to an alternative platform as soon as possible, so ITS Training Services has collected the information below to help you make the transition as smoothly as possible.
Faculty, staff and students who use ANGEL Groups for collaborative or storage space will need to find an alternative platform by November 1, 2017. Current ANGEL Groups can be accessed through October 31, 2017. However, no new ANGEL Groups can be created after June 30, 2017.
The first step in transitioning content from your ANGEL Group is to download that content to your computer. Learn how in this tutorial from the knowledge base: “Bulk Extraction of Files from an ANGEL group.”
Review the document below for information about four alternative services (all centrally supported by the University) that you may find helpful for replacing your ANGEL groups: Box, Yammer, Sites, and Qualtrics. You can also download a copy of the document here. In this document, live and self-paced training resources are listed for each service, followed by a chart comparing key features of all four options.
