Penn State IT recently announced the University-wide rollout of Zoom, a centrally funded cloud-based web conferencing platform. Zoom provides comparable features to Adobe Connect, meets all accessibility standards, and was chosen to best meet the needs of the University as a result of a successful pilot across seven campuses over eleven months.
There are a variety of training opportunities available to help you get started using Zoom. To register for or view the following resources, visit the training section of the Zoom at Penn State website.
The Zoom vendor is offering the following faculty- or staff-focused hourlong training sessions throughout summer and fall:
Tuesday, June 6, from 2 to 3 p.m. via Zoom
Tuesday, August 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom
Tuesday, September 12, from 2 to 3 p.m. via Zoom
Tuesday, June 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom
Tuesday, August 15, from 2 to 3 p.m. via Zoom
Tuesday, September 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom
If you can’t attend the available dates, the June sessions will be recorded, closed-captioned, and posted in the training section of the Zoom at Penn State website.
In addition, IT Training Services is offering a regularly scheduled session called “Zoom: An Introduction,” with the first availability on Thursday, July 27, from 9:45 to 11 a.m. via Zoom. This recurring introductory course will be offered twice a month during the fall semester.
In addition to live training sessions, training documents are also available on how to download Zoom, as well as quick-start guides on hosting and participating in Zoom meetings or webinars. Training Services has also prepared handouts on meeting basics and best practices for hosting and participating in video conferences.
