Hello! You have found your way to our ITS Training Services Getting Started page, which likely means that you are thinking of attending one of our sessions. Before you we wanted to share just a little bit of information with you so that you know what to expect in certain circumstances. However, don’t worry if you have questions about any information below or questions that aren’t answered here, feel free to contact us at any time.

Requirements

We want to make it as easy as possible for Penn Staters to attend the trainings we offer. We have just a few requirements for attending our sessions:

  • Registration is required for all ITS Training Services scheduled sessions.
  • A Penn State Access Account User ID and password are required for registration.
  • Other accounts may be required in order to participate in certain sessions. These will be identified in the prerequisites section of each session description.

Accessibility

Penn State (and ITS Training Services) encourages qualified persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact ITS Training Services at least two weeks in advance of your participation or visit. Cancellation

Please register only for the number of training sessions you can reasonably attend. If a conflict will prevent you from attending a session, please be sure to cancel your registration at least 5 business days prior to the session, so that others may attend the class. You can cancel your registration by sending an email to itstraining@psu.edu or pd-info@psu.edu or by calling 814-863-9522.

ITS Training Services reserves the right to cancel any session due to low registration. Email notices will be sent to each registrant if a session is canceled.

Due to the high demand for some of our sessions, we ask that you please be mindful of others in regards to being sure that you cancel when you are unable to attend. In the rare case that a registrant consistently “no-shows” or doesn’t cancel within the three requested business days, Training Services reserve the right to cancel that registrant’s registration. For us to take this action, a registrant must have missed 3 training sessions during any one semester for which he or she registered and neither showed up nor canceled his or her registration within 3 business days prior to the start of the session.

Weather Cancellation

All ITS Training Services scheduled training sessions at University Park campus will be canceled on any day that the University closes or that classes are canceled for the UP location. If there is a 2-hour delay, any session that begins prior to 10:00 a.m. will be canceled. Please check the WPSU website for University cancellation and delay information. We will make every effort to reschedule classes cancelled due to weather.

Waiting Lists

If you are interested in a session that appears to be full, we encourage you to join the waiting list by registering for that session. Many participants who join the waiting list for a training session actually make it into the session, due to cancellations, the addition of a new section, or various other reasons. When possible, we will open an additional section of the training during the same semester. In addition, the extent of the waiting list for any given session can help us better match demand for the topic in the future.

Once your name is on the waiting list, you will be notified via email if a space becomes available.

If you do not receive notice that a space has become available, you are still welcome to attend the session. If seats remain available at the time the session is scheduled to begin, those on the waiting list are invited to fill the open seats. Empty seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. (See Seating below for more information.)

Seating

Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the start of the session. Wait-listed participants will be seated in any unoccupied space at the moment the session is scheduled to begin. ITS Training Services encourages instructors to begin on time. If you cannot make it to the training at the scheduled time, please cancel your registration, so that someone on the waiting list has the opportunity to attend.
